God is not against us being exalted as some would believe. He is just against us exalting ourselves. He said He would "exalt us" in due time (1 Peter 5:6 ). So you see, He desires for His creation to be living at a highly elevated place "with Him". When the leadership of Israel was finally placed on Joshua, he had passed the tests of obedience, perseverance and dependence on God. God said “Today I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you” (Joshua 3:7). After Joshua and Israel had crossed over into the Promised land “the Lord exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel, and they stood in awe of him just as they had stood in awe of Moses, all the days of his life” (Joshua 4:14).
